Peppernuts were brought to our region of Kansas by Mennonite immigrants. They were originally made only at Christmas and were symbols of Holiday hospitality. Because peppernuts were so hard, as you conversed about the past year, or the coming one, you soaked them in tea or coffee to soften them.
Peppernuts are our signature cookie flavor in our Hospitality line of cookies. Our version produces a crisp, bite-size peppernut that captures not only the flavor of the original, but its spirit of hospitality as well. We hope you enjoy them!
